Speech Pathology

At Network Speech Pathology, we recognise the potential for high-quality telehealth practice to achieve exceptional results. We use technology to perform video consultations, assessments and therapy sessions for clients living around Australia. Our online sessions allow you to access support in the comfort of your own home, aged care facility, hospital or school. That means no need to travel to another appointment!

TElehealth FAQs

what is required?

1/ A computer or tablet with a camera
2/ Headset with microphone (not essential, however, preferred).
3/ Good internet connection

My internet is not strong

If you don’t have internet or your connection is too slow, we will try to find a facility within your community that you can use.

Is there evidence for telepractice?

There is a wealth of evidence in support of telepractice. Speech Pathology Australia’s position statement from 2014 notes the opportunity for telehealth to enhance much needed existing models of care. It also found clients made equivalent gains in many areas when contrasting face to face and telehealth supports.

What should i bring?

Dependent on your needs, some resources may be mailed or emailed to you for your session. Alternatively, they will be shared over your screen. You may be asked to gather up materials from your own home, such as a book, pen and paper.

what if i don’t have access to a computer?

We will help you find a facility within your community that you can use. Alternatively, if you have NDIS funding and no access to other Speech Pathology supports within your area, we can support you in requesting assistive technology through the NDIA.

who attends the session?

Dependent on your communication ability, a support person should be present during the session (just as they would in a clinic-based session). This helps when setting up the telehealth program, asking questions, conducting assessments, or providing supplementary materials.

where should i set up?

For the most effective session, set up your computer or device in a quiet environment with minimal distractions (turning off the television in the background). Ensure you are in a room with sufficient lighting.
